EDUCATION PROGRAM — Shiksha Daan
Program Vision
To ensure that every child in underserved communities receives quality education, digital literacy, and emotional support required to build a brighter future.
Overview: Why Shiksha Daan Exists
Education is not only a fundamental right — it is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty.
Yet millions of children in India struggle to access even the basics of learning due to poverty, malnutrition, family instability, unsafe environments, and lack of early childhood support.
According to ASER 2023:
- Only 20% of Class 3 children in government schools can read a Class 2 sentence.
- Almost 47% cannot perform basic subtraction.
- Over 70% lack foundational reading skills at the expected level.
Children in slums often fall into a cycle of:
No school → No learning → Low confidence → Early labour → Lifelong poverty
The Shiksha Daan Program was created to break this chain by giving children structured, safe, continuous learning support that their families and schools are unable to provide.
‘Shiksha Daan’ Key Goals
Goal -1
Build Strong Foundational Learning
Ensure children master reading, writing, numeracy, and comprehension — the basics that form their educational backbone.
Goal -2
Improve School Attendance & Reduce Dropouts
Empower children to stay in school through academic support, mentoring, and emotional encouragement.
Goal -3
Provide Digital Learning to Underprivileged Children
Bridge the digital divide through tablets, online content, and audio-visual learning tools.
Goal -4
Support Early Childhood Education (0–6 years)
Lay a stronger brain-development foundation through play-based learning, motor-skill activities, and early literacy.
Goal -5
Involve Parents & Build Learning Cultures at Home
Train parents to understand their children’s needs, routines, and emotional well-being.
Goal -6
Create Safe Learning Spaces in High-Risk Communities
Establish learning hubs that offer safety, comfort, warmth, emotional support, and a structured learning environment.

30–40% of poor children cannot recognize alphabets at age 7
25% of children drop out before class 8
Migrant children face interruptions up to 8 months a year
Environmental Challenges
Slum children study in:
Crowded, noisy, tiny homes
No electricity or safe environment
Families struggling with daily survival
Digital Inequality
During COVID-19:
76% of poor children had no smartphone access
92% did not join online classes
This created an irreversible learning gap of nearly 2 years.
